Why grade level matters for award design

Young children reading together in a classroom

The same award reads differently to a kindergartener and an eighth grader. A "Reading Champion" certificate handed to a five year old wants playful illustration, oversized type, and a vocabulary that the child can recognize as celebratory. The same certificate handed to a fourteen year old wants restraint — a clean border, formal typography, and language that doesn't feel condescending to a student who is rapidly approaching adulthood. PrintHonor's grade tiers are not strict rules so much as starting points that get you to a tonally appropriate template faster.

For mixed-age contexts — after-school programs, tutoring centers, summer camps — the All Ages tier collects certificates whose language and design land cleanly across the K-12 spectrum.
